“Quite simply, Jasmin picked me up & put me back together again. Before her Pilates regime there were times when I could barely walk, now I’m training to run a 5k race. Thank you for the magic!” -Sharon, Parsons Green.

How a Pilates programme can help?
Pilates uses strengthening and mobility exercises to work on a person’s individual muscular and joint imbalances. Re-aligning their body and movements so they are using their body more efficiently and with reduced pain.
Why is Pilates different?
Where evidence meets holistic practice. Pilates is unique; its strong ties with physiotherapy and osteopathy mean that the techniques used utilise a thorough anatomical understanding and precise method.
However, Pilates technique works on the principle; the human body is an integrated system and together is more than the sum of its parts. Individual joints need to work together and balance each other to be healthy, especially during movement. A Vertebrae Pilates programme looks at the whole posture not just the area of pain. A session will include work on breathing, overall joint function, joint stability and mobility. You will probably find out the ‘problem’ area is very far from the site of pain!
Ultimately pain is just your body's way of telling you something is out of balance. By bringing your whole body back to a better posture and muscular balance pain symptoms can often be resolved.
Pilates prevents re-injury and relieves pain by retraining your muscles and posture, it works well after a course of physiotherapy or osteopathy. It is not a medical discipline and we require that you obtain a diagnosis from a medical practitioner if pain symptoms are severe.

There is so much more to caring for your body during and after pregnancy than the average workout would have you believe!
The programmes we offer as part of Vertebrae and Spring are all bespoke and tailored to the individual needs and goals of the client. Every woman is different and has a different experience of pregnancy and the post natal period. Sometimes the focus is to stay relaxed and stress free, maybe it’s to have the best stomach around or maybe it’s running after your toddler and avoiding extra back pain! There is a different programme for every woman and it changes at every stage of the pregnancy and post natal period. The sessions will work with your body's natural process to create optimum physical health at each stage, supporting your body as it changes with each trimester, preparing you for the birth and helping to restore you afterwards.
We have a wealth of experience in helping to restore function and fitness with conditions such as diastasis recti (separation of the abdominals), pelvic organ prolapse, and many different types of pelvic girdle pain; so if you are worried about regaining your fitness with these conditions starting with a bespoke Pilates session is ideal.
